i know i look high, but i'm just free dancing

Little sis, Cristobal, and myself were finally reunited today. I've had several long days and even longer nights recently, so I was so glad to be off work today. I put on this ensemble to run a few errands and grab some corn and raspas.
On the way over there, we listened to Devendra Banhart's album What Will Be. I've been listening more and more to this particular album and I'm developing a bit of a crush for it. It's stands apart in sound from his other stuff - in a good way. I love that he experiments, which is why my Devendra Banhart phase continues. I'm obsessed. (Oh no, that's never good!) The song I'm about to post is from that album and is a great song to listen to on the road with the window down (just don't forget the star shaped sunglasses).

we had a regional visit at work today. needless to say, i'm exhausted. i was hoping to post my generational's review tonight but there are just too many photos to review. i'm behind on posts. i'm behind on life - i should know french by now. i want to sing along to Carla Bruni and understand what it is i'm singing.
i enjoy listening to the song i'm about to post. i don't know what she's saying, but it's very pretty.

ain't the only one havin' fun

Every now and then, you come across performances so good and so alive that they explain the evolutionary purpose of music, shows, and beer of course (apparently, more than just a beverage - a good way to pump up the crowd and subsequently get that 'just out of the shower' look. See photos above). Two nights ago was one of those nights.

Turbo Fruits and Pujol both from Nashville came down to good ol' Laredo with good set-lists and evidently the determination to rock our pants off. In fact, I'm almost certain that had I inappropriately searched their pockets, I would have found a similar "to do" list in every single one with the same number one priority: "Show Laredo a Fucking Amazing Time."

I'm pretty sure they've all scratched it off the list now. The night was perfection. Nope, wouldn't change a thing. It was the sort of night that assures you the cosmos had something to do with it. The cosmos were somehow responsible for making sure all the ingredients were in order for an awesome time. The music was good, the people had soul, and the dance moves were impeccable. What more could you ask for? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. If you missed it, here's what you should be asking for - a recollection of the night:

i just can't sit around and wait for you...

I can't sit around and wait for you. Just another cup of coffee, I'll sit around and wait for you. Just one more cigarette, I'll sit around and wait for you. I guess I really will, I'll sit around and wait for you.

Haha. I love this song.

...cause my god gave me a rod for fishing

My little sister took me on quite the adventure this morning. We set out to Chacon Creek - not much of a creek but the overpass made for a great background. It's a desolate area, and the graffiti walls and frequent sound of cars passing overhead made for quite the unsettling experience. I frequently checked all angles to ensure there were no rapist or serial killers lurking around the corner. The chills were worth it, I was very pleased with the outcome.

Today's tune is Me, My Yoke, and I by Damien Rice. It's a great piece of creative work. It belongs with the sexy likes of Led Zeppelin's - Since I've Been Loving You and Marvin Gaye's classic Let's Get It On. Damien Rice is just a little more clever and allusive about it.

the voices in your head, you got to keep it to yourself

This is a look from last week I never had a chance to post. I wore flats to work but sported the heels thereafter. The heels are more...how you say...photogenic. It's a shame they aren't a little more comfortable.

The heading is my favorite lyric from Carrying the Torch by the Generationals. I'm so excited to see them this month, just two more weeks (March 19 at Old Two)!! The voices in my head just might roam in the open air if I get the chance to talk to them again: I foresee endless "I love you guys, and where's the after party?" Oh what to wear, what to wear??

let if fall, let it fall

I'm pleased to announce that this outfit was able to withstand a 10 hour work day - 4 inch wedges and all. Yay!
I left work in a Lykke Li mood. I've loved her for so long now. I especially love how she can make a should-have-been depressing song into an upbeat, finger-snapping tune. Enjoy:
