twenty four

The most fun nights present themselves when you don't try. I remember growing up as a kid and spending most weekends with my family - back in the day when none of us kids had jobs and we were so naive. Those days were fun.

My dad always had control of what it was we listened to in the car or in our backyard during cookouts. He went through musical phases - some more tolerable than others. Still, I owe a great deal of my musical taste to my father. As a kid, I used to get a kick when he'd play Vicente and sing along. Slowly, but surely, I acquired a taste for that sort of music, but it wasn't until recently that I started to fully digest it.

I'm not sure why, but I'm going through a spanish phase. Perhaps this is why I wanted nothing more than to spend my birthday at home with my family and a few friends cooking out and listening to a mix of music - just like back in the day. It was effortless. Sure, my sister's decorations were a little overdone but a cheesy gal deserves nothing less. It was the perfect twenty fourth birthday. Cheers.
