mikey i love you

This post/song is for my friend Mikey. He was a soul mate. He was my favorite person, still is. I miss him so much.

I bought Slapstick to remember you, to remember that time...all this effort to remember moments with you and I couldn't remember the most important date. I'm so sorry it slipped by me. I'm so sorry. I miss you terribly. I won't ever get over you:

i wont change given the chance

This here was this past Sunday's outfit. Those heals there are the most comfortable pair I own, so I often try and incorporate them into my look. Overall, this was a good work outfit since the top is actually from my workplace.

So my Devendra Banhart phase continues. I've been exploring his stuff, and the more I listen to his music the more hypnotized I become by it. "Remember" is one of the first songs that peaked my attention towards the odd man, and I've yet to get tired of it. It's a beautiful song. It's sad and almost always brings about a state of nostalgia....and still it manages to relax me. It's hopeful in the end, maybe that's why. The line I used as a heading is evidently a favorite. I wonder if I'll ever put lessons learned into action. Maybe I'll just pass them on to future generations, maybe I'll practice them when I'm older, or maybe I haven't really learned a thing if I've yet to change. Who knows? I don't know how many times I've fallen asleep listening to this song. Looks like tonight might be one of those nights. Enjoy:

be sure to hide scars from future generations...

My lovely roommate/sister/best friend/coolest girl in Laredo gave me some exciting news yesterday: Generationals live at Old Two on March 19! I am officially under a permanent, irreversible state of euphoria. If you need to contact me, please search the coordinates on google map for "cloud nine."  As of yesterday, this is where I now reside.
Okay, so maybe I like to exaggerate a tad bit. But, I really am thrilled that the Generationals are going to play at the deuce again. If you haven't heard them, start now:

put me in your suitcase

I had a wedding date this past Saturday. I had such a good night. It left a permanent mark in my memory bank - a mark that'll bring smiles, laughs, and maybe even tears one day when I look back. I stupidly left my camera in the car, so I had to recreate the look Sunday night. Hmmm...I suppose I was subconsciously confident that I wouldn't need photos to remember how good we looked or how much fun we had. I will admit that I had envisioned some whimsy shots in my head with me and my date, but I suppose I'll have to save those ideas for a later time. The background is pretty dull in all these shots but I figured I'd let the outfit absorb your full attention.
My attention on the other hand is very much focused on the song playing in my mental jukebox: At the Hop by Devendra Banhart. I like it. I like him. Enjoy:

these walls are paper thin and everyone hears every little sound

And on the last day (on the final glimpse of winter), she wore a leather jacket and her military inspired boots. Saturday was a good day. I got a chance to hang out with my soul mate Ashley (a.k.a. my little mona lisa). We did what girls do best: ate lunch and went shopping. A good day means nothing but good tunes. Hello...hi...Modest Mouse! The following is one of my favorites by them. The amazing lyrics, the song, the truth to everything he says, the catchy riff...it all makes for a fantastic tune. Enjoy:

i wish that i knew what i know now, when i was younger

I didn't find time to photograph my looks during the week so I spent my day off recreating the looks and shooting them. I refer to these looks as my "three days of winter outfits." I wore my trench all three days, it was nice to experience a bit of the winter season. Anyway, I am going to leave you with a great tune by Faces called Ooh La La. It's great so be sure to listen to it:

everything i've learned i've forgotten

This was my work outfit the day before yesterday. I recently purchased the cardigan and was eager to wear it. It's already a closet favorite. Something else that's a favorite: M.Ward. I was listening to him and stumbled upon Eyes on the Prize. The song goes well with some of the photographs. The last one especially is very fitting and a favorite, I'm channeling a toy soldier. A toy soldier that really enjoys listening to M.Ward. His voice is very soothing and the music always paves the way to a deep world where my thoughts roam free. I hope it does the same for you:

does each day just feel like another life?

I wore this yesterday to run a few errands. One of the reasons I love my days off is because I can wear anything - like high heals and a rather comfortable corset. I came across the corset when I was cleaning my room and thought I'd play it down with some high waisted trousers. Then, I threw on the super high-sexy heals to compliment the corset I hid so well. On a musical note, it was a Beach House day yesterday so here's a favorite:

a feelin' in my soul i'd never felt before

I spent a couple of days out of town and had the chance to check out an art exhibit in San Antonio. Me, myself, and my eyes quite enjoyed the art. It was nice to do something different for a change.
Still, every now and then, I don't mind doing the same old thing; you know, like closing my eyes and listening to Golden by My Morning Jacket. I was obsessed with song when I was 17. It was an odd coincidence when someone played it for me the other day - one I quite enjoyed. Hope you do too:
