you talk like a noose and only confuse my perplexity

Just listen to me I won't pretend to
Understand the movement of the wind
Or the waves out in the ocean or how

Like the hours I change softly slowly
Plainly blindly oh me oh my!

i wish that i knew what i know now, when i was younger

I didn't find time to photograph my looks during the week so I spent my day off recreating the looks and shooting them. I refer to these looks as my "three days of winter outfits." I wore my trench all three days, it was nice to experience a bit of the winter season. Anyway, I am going to leave you with a great tune by Faces called Ooh La La. It's great so be sure to listen to it:

she's like the big orchestra, playing my tiny tune

One of the many advantages of having siblings is that the odds of discovering a good tune increase greatly. Four ears are better than one. My little brother was listening to Roll the Credits by Peter Bjorn and John the other day, and he pointed out this one verse: Just tapping on my shoes and/ I couldn't want it more/ The way I know she's close. Sometimes all it takes is a good verse to fall in love with a song. I'm not sure how this one song bypassed my ears for so long, but I sure am glad I finally heard it. In case you haven't, here it is:

like mexican dogs nobody gave us names

Where to begin. Okay, I think I've got it. I first heard Cold War Kids through a boy I once dated. Now, I typically try to avoid and reject all music that correlates or reminds me of someone I rather not be reminded of but that still did not keep me from seeing CWK in Austin. On a side note, that awful habit I have of avoiding particular bands or songs, it doesn't make much sense considering my overall jukebox selection changes drastically after a breakup; you know, less of Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and more of You Bloody Motherfucking Asshole by Martha Wainwright or Remember by Devendra Banhart - one of my favorites by the way. So obviously he's in my head, what's the point in avoiding particular bands or songs? There is no point, but I have a niche for bad habits (see picture above of blogger holding cigarettes in one hand and a cough drop in the other).

Anyhow, I was extremely pleased that I made an exception to said awful habit. Now, I've been to my fair share of shows so I know a killer performance when I have the pleasure of seeing it. Wait...pause...I'm not saying what you think I'm saying. They DIDN'T put on a killer show but...BUT...their performance was, for lack of a better word, touching. There was something about the way the members moved to the music, how the guitarist shut his eyes and mouthed every single lyric down to the ones sometimes only the singer knows, how the bassist couldn't stay in one spot because he let the music sort of be the compass of his direction, and especially...it was especially how they were all just so focused on what they were playing. You could just tell that they genuinely enjoyed what it was they were doing and the music they were playing. I went from a girl with a crush to a girl in love that night - in love with CWK.

Young the Giant (the opening act) on the other hand had an abundance of chemistry, and they were a set of good looking musicians with good style (see picture of cool shoes above) and hip shaking tunes that everyone loves to love or sometimes hates to admit they love. They didn't by any means steal the show but they prepped me well enough for what was to come. And so, I hope I've done the same for you. Here are two of my favorites CWK performed and a song I wish they would have. If you're going to pick one, pick the last one. Enjoy:

night on the sun

This week was hell - maybe that's why I look so pissed off in these photos. I put in a lot of overtime at work. An abundance of music and coffee, and a few cigarettes kept me sane. Sane enough to want to go out after 12 and 14 hour shifts. Anyhow, I guess all I wanted to do was forget about time.

Modest Mouse helped. They are without a doubt one of my favorite bands. I enjoy listening to them at 6am while I'm at work. Night on the Sun is always an essential to any 6am playlist. There's a particular part in the song that I can rewind back to over and over. It's near the end. It goes:

There's one thing to know about this town
It's five hundred miles underground; and that's ok, that's alright' that's alright.
There's one thing to know about this earth
We're put here just to make more dirt; and that's ok, that's alright, that's alright.
Well there's one thing to know about this globe
It's bound and it's willing to explode; and that's ok, that's alright, that's alright.
Well there's one thing to know about this town
It's five hundred miles underground; it's alright, It's alright

It doesn't necessarily make me feel better or worse - I guess it just soothes my soul in just the right way. It gets me thinking and once that starts time just flies. I guess when you're working 12 hour shifts that's all you could hope for. Anyhow, just in case you're curious...here it is:

every smile was so delicate, floated 'round till the nights would end

This was my Thanksgiving Eve outfit. Sometimes I only go out so I can dress up. I could have easily dragged the night out with friends, but I opted for a lonesome cigarette in my car. This was followed by a small photo shoot. Therefore, last night and this thanksgiving I give thanks and kudos to timers on cameras. Sure they may limit the possibilities but when no one is around to snap a photo, it's the only possibility.

I'm also grateful for Deer Tick and their song Little White Lies. I've listened to this song so many times since I first heard it a couple months back. It's one of those songs I know I could have easily written because the feelings behind it were and still are there, but I'm just too clumsy with words. The singer is an amazing lyricist. Listen carefully for yourself:
